Uniting Church to celebrate pancake day

By Simon Ruppert

Benalla's Uniting Church will once again celebrate Shrove Tuesday by making pancakes for the community - while raising money for charities.

The Uniting Church in Australia holds a Pancake Day on Shrove Tuesday each year as the major fundraiser of its welfare arm, Uniting.

All takings in Benalla go directly to Uniting as expenses are covered by the local UCA fellowship groups.

Uniting's work assists people experiencing homelessness (including victims of family violence), drug or alcohol addiction or mental illness, as well as supporting people with a disability in the community, in employment (including training) and in the home.

Assistance to older people and the newly-arrived is also offered.

An invitation is extended to all to come and enjoy a pancake or two for a worthy cause on Tuesday, February 25, between 10 am and 12.30 pm at the Uniting Church on the corner of Carrier and Church Sts.
